How WahooWell Can Help

College life can create unique challenges and opportunities for growth. WahooWell can help you explore and implement an individualized plan to take on the challenges of higher education without sacrificing your personal well-being.

WahooWell consists of a submitting a confidential well-being survey followed by two or more confidential, one-on-one meetings with a well-being facilitator. In your meetings, you will have the opportunity to be heard, encouraged, and validated in a way that motivates you to accomplish personally meaningful goals.

What to expect

WahooWell typically involves two or more meetings with a well-being facilitator that may last for up to an hour each. In the initial meeting, you will explore your current overall well-being and discuss any changes you’d like to make. Your WahooWell facilitator will guide you to set goals and identify action steps that work for your individual circumstances. Your well-being facilitator may also offer on or off-Grounds referrals or resources to help support you. Follow up sessions can be scheduled to discuss progress and re-evaluate action steps as needed. Typically, follow up sessions are scheduled 2-4 weeks after an initial meeting to give you time to work on goals.

Common Topics for WahooWell

Topics that students frequently wish to discuss are stress management, self-care, relationships, finding community, sleep, substance use, and time management.

WahooWell is a well-being resource and not a substitute for licensed mental health services. If you are experiencing panic attacks, anxiety, depression, little interest or pleasure in doing things, feeling down, depressed, or hopeless, thoughts of harm to self or others, or other symptoms that would be best treated by a licensed counselor or clinician, please contact Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) by calling (434) 243-5150, or 911 in case of emergency.
